App: Protect-Me — published by DIGIGRACE PTY LTD (Australia).
This page explains how to request deletion of your Protect-Me account and associated personal data, what data is removed, what data we are required to keep, and how long the process takes. It satisfies the data-deletion disclosure requirements of the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, and the privacy laws of the regions where Protect-Me is offered.
How to request deletion
You can choose any of the three methods below. All three result in the same outcome.
Method 1 — In-app (fastest)
- Open the Protect-Me app on your phone.
- Sign in if you are not already signed in.
- Tap Settings (gear icon, bottom tab bar).
- Scroll to the Data & Privacy section.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
You will receive a confirmation email within minutes. Your request then enters a 30-day grace period during which you can still cancel it by contacting support; after that, deletion is permanent and irreversible.
Method 2 — Email
- From the email address associated with your Protect-Me account, send an email to [email protected].
- Subject line: Delete My Account
- Body: include your account email so we can confirm identity. No further information is required.
We will reply within 2 business days to confirm the request and again once deletion is complete.
Method 3 — Written request
Write to the contact address published in our Privacy Policy § 12 (Contact Information). Include your account email address.
What data is deleted
The following data is removed from our active systems within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request, and purged from encrypted backups within 90 days:
- Account record (email address, password hash, authentication tokens)
- Profile information (name or display name, region, preferred language, comic character preference)
- Monitored email addresses you added for breach monitoring
- Breach alert history stored on our servers
- Push notification tokens
- Support communications with us
- Images submitted for deepfake analysis are already not retained on our servers after analysis and so nothing further is stored to delete
What data is retained (and why)
A small number of records are retained after account deletion because we are legally required to keep them, or because they cannot be tied back to you:
| Data | Retention | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription and payment receipts (via Apple/Google) | 7 years | Tax, accounting, and financial audit obligations in Australia, the United States, and Canada |
| Aggregated, de-identified usage statistics | Indefinitely | These cannot be linked back to you and are used to improve the Service |
| Security and fraud-prevention logs | Up to 90 days | Investigation of abuse, account takeover, and fraud — required to protect our users and the Service |
Payment processing records held by Apple and Google (and their payment-management intermediaries) are governed by their respective retention policies and are outside of our control.
Timeline
| Step | Maximum time |
|---|---|
| We confirm your request | 2 business days |
| Data removed from live systems | 30 days from confirmation |
| Data purged from encrypted backups | 90 days from confirmation |
If your deletion is required to meet a statutory deadline in your jurisdiction (for example, a CCPA or PIPEDA request), we will process the request within the statutory window (typically 30 to 45 days).
Cancelling your subscription
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an in-app subscription because subscriptions are managed by Apple and Google, not by us. To cancel your subscription:
- iOS: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > Protect-Me > Cancel
- Android: Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > Protect-Me > Cancel
We recommend cancelling your subscription before requesting account deletion so you are not charged for a period you cannot use.
